Intern Top Picks No. 10

I do reckon that it was LL Cool J who wisely stated, “‘I’m gonna knock you out (HUUUH!!!), Mama said knock you out (HUUUH!!!).” Well my dears, please do be prepared to be knocked out (metaphorically speaking… not physically, we’re nice people. My mom can back me up on that one).

With that said, we are very lucky to have another amazing guest blogger with us today. Sarah, of past Trunk Show fame and from the Everything blog has chosen some amazing picks. They will not disappoint! Enjoy!

1. Coral Silverman

My favourite are her floral paintings, like wallpaper from the bedroom of a misunderstood genius playwright from an indeterminate time period.

2. Caitlin Shearer

Draws marvelous girls and boys (and the gleefully indeterminate others) from a non-existant colourised romance film.

Although the print version of her magazine is no longer in production, Amelia continues on blogging, writing, and making. Coming up soon in the “real world” will be a self-published book called the “Anthology of Illustration” . If you’re into that sort of thing, there is an open call for illustrators to contribute to the book. Amelia “would particularly encourage new illustrators; those who are still at college, just graduating, or new to the field” to submit work. So go for it.

4. Kes

Raised by the wind, trees and tiny birds in a forest far away.

Taking care. Got to take care.

1. Blanca Gomez

I was excited to see that her work was on the Uppercase Magazine! I can’t wait to get my very own copy soon! :)

2. Cathy Cullis

Textile, stitching, mixed media, painting, this girl can do it all, even cute lil’ imaginary friends!

3. Selena Wong

Tiny amazing illustrations found here! Selena’s most current work was part of Magic Pony’s Narwhal space entitled Life Drawing.

4. Jennifer Altman

Sweet, lovely polariod photography!

5. Karen Klassen

There’s something very editorial about her drawings and paintings that I find really beautiful. I really love the illustrations that combine both black and white drawing sketches and the watercolour painting together.

1. Jon Klassen

One of the most talented artists I’ve ever come across. ‘Nuff said.

2.  Lizzy Steward

A final year student in Illustration at the Edinburgh College of Art, this girl has some serious chops. My favourite is the Giant Bear in a Tiny Village print.

3. Jez Burrows

I think I have finally found a blog truly after my own heart: design, music, humour, and overall amazingness. Hello, soulmate.

4. We Love You So

This is the blog for the movie Where the Wild Things Are which shows all the little sources of inspiration. Very very neat.

5. Dam Style

This ranks among one of the top reasons why I want to move to Amsterdam. I mean, c’mon… they’re just so pretty.

Oh, amazing! I saw Selena Wong’s paintings at the OCAD show last year, I think, and I took one of her cards, but her website wasn’t up at the time!

loving the kitty & fox sarah – the cat looks a lot like my pippa, though i’ll give the fox cute points beyond her licking victim, manny. those ears are so amazing!

    Oh so much yummy!
I love Cathy’s work- she has such a dreamy silly childlike feel that I think is so rare in adult artists.
Selena’s work is wonderful- thanks for sharing.
And that Kitty licking Fox is one of the best things I have ever seen!!
