Very soon bargain-hunting fibre addicts will descend on the Textile Museum of Canada for the annual More Than Just A Yardage Sale.  Created and run by the Museum’s volunteers, the sale is a bonanza for textile aficionados and a major fundraiser for the Museum.  Shoppers will have their pick of an eclectic mix that includes yardages, yarns, vintage oddments and a wild variety of patterns, quilt fabrics, notions, crafts and books. All sale proceeds support the Textile Museum’s exhibitions and education programming.

Everything in the sale is generously donated. The More Than Just A Yardage Sale is an opportunity for fibre enthusiasts to sort through their stashes, contribute to a good cause and make room for new finds. Donors and donations have ranged from the individual who brought in a few balls of alpaca yarn left over from a project, to the estate of an interior designer who donated a lifetime’s collection of decorator samples.

Now in its fourteenth year, the More Than Just A Yardage Sale is a “must do” event for thrifty Toronto-area textile enthusiasts.  The sale has become a major event, raising tens of thousands of dollars and attracting large crowds. Rain or shine, the sale will be held in temporary tents outside of the Textile Museum on 55 Centre Avenue.
