EXHIBITION: Artist Gea showcases new work at Industtrees (September 11 – October 8)
by rosalyn
NYC-based visual artist Gea* showcases her latest gallery exhibit, !?!?,
at Industtrees.

Industtrees and Chilean-born, NYC-based visual artist Gea are teaming up to highlight her surreal, whimsical and often edgy brand of art from September 11th through October 8th, 2009.
For most artists, escapism through art is a method of soothing the inner beast. !?!? showcases Gea’s subconscious need to embrace these demons (along with various other monsters and miscreations) and why her work is extraordinary because of it.
The Chilean native’s emigration to New York City at the age of eight inspired her to delve into a world of her own making. Since then, her canvases have been filled with metaphors that chronicle her day-to-day existence; curiosity, fear, playfulness and desire.
!?!? marks Gea’s first show on Canadian soil, with her last solo exhibition being held in 2006 at Switzerland’s V-Gallery. Her work has also been presented numerous times on the international stage through various group shows and featured in several print and media outlets.
Industtrees is a newly established gallery/retail space located at 1234 College St. in Toronto’s Brockton Village. Since opening its doors in July, it has focused on offering a unique and inspiring assortment of design and technology related products, innovative media and the creative endeavors of both local and international artists.
