We are thrilled to offer 4 wonderful workshops by 4 fantastic teachers.
Lydia Caine –
Apoxie Sculpt Wood Nymph
Lydia offers us a jam-packed day with her Wood Nymph class. You will learn how to manipulate Apoxie Sculpt to create a wonderfully whimsical figure. The head will be sculpted over a miniature skull and attaching it to a wire & mesh armature. This will be mounted on a dowel or wonderful piece of driftwood! You will also learn how to use Lydia’s hand & foot jigs and cover them with Apoxie Sculpt. The second portion of the workshop will be to wig, dress & embellish your Wood Nymph, incorporating interesting and diverse items such as wire, glass, leaves, lace and cheesecloth.
KIT: $25.00
Katuma McLaughlin -
Know your Machine & The Science of Needles and Threads
Katuma will help you discover the secrets of your sewing machine. Have you ever asked?
why does my machine “jam”?
why do I get loose stitches, why do then “pucker”?
why do my needles keep breaking?
Are you frustrated with missing stitches, or ones that keep snagging your fabric?
Then this is the workshop for you!! Katuma will walk you through the basic science of threads & needles for both machine & hand sewing. Students are encouraged (if possible) to bring their machines & and samples of problem stitching etc. If you are unable to bring your machine, Katuma will have a couple with her.
KIT: $20.00
Wendy Lynne Rinehart o.a.c.a. –
Create an “Aztec Gold” gourd Figure
In one day Wendy Lynne Rinehart will teach you how to sculpt a head & hands with polymer clay then paint, glue & fashion your own unique gourd figure. This figure was inspired by Kate Church’s magical little faces.
KIT: $25.00
Kathryn White –
Manipulating Fabrics & Embellishments
With Kathy you will learn various methods of manipulating fabrics & utilizing embellishments to create a “sampler doll”. Techniques such as reverse dyeing, rusting/patina, rushing and smocking to name a few. No previous knowledge is necessary.
KIT: $15.00
