The Museum of Inuit Art, Toronto, celebrates the art of Inuit doll making with two new exhibitions:

“Inuit Dolls from the Kivalliq”, a travelling exhibition circulated by the Burnaby Art Gallery, features sixty-five contemporary dolls from all seven communities of the Kivalliq (Keewatin) Region of Nunavut. These works were created during workshops organized by the Tarralikitaaq Arts Society in 2007 and were subsequently exhibited at the Kivalliq Inuit Doll Festival in Rankin Inlet. October 15th – December 31st, 2009.

The Museum of Inuit Art exhibition “Inuit Dolls from the Esther Sarick Collection” presents the wider context of doll making, showing forty examples of traditional and contemporary Inuit dolls from across the Canadian Arctic in a wide variety of materials and regional clothing styles. October 15th, 2009 – January 31st, 2010.

Opening/Vernissage: Nov. 8, 5:30 – 8:00 pm.
