GET SCHOOLED: Turn a men’s shirt into a girl’s jumper (Nov. 19)

Scadding Court Community Centre is offering a beginner’s sewing class on how to recycle a man’s shirt into a girl’s jumper.
In this class, you will learn to:
- Cut the simple dress from a pattern
- Sew a simple machine hem
- Sew a French seam
- Attach an elastic casing
- Make and attach double fold bias tape
- Make and attach a facing using bias tape
- Sew a hem by hand

Time: 6:00pm-9:00pm
Cost: $30
For those who would like to brush up on sewing machine basics, we are also offering an introduction to sewing class one week prior to the course on the girl’s jumper.
Introduction to sewing

Time: 6:00pm-9:00pm
Cost: $30
* Learn parts of sewing machine
* Learn to thread the bobbin and sewing machine
* Discuss fabrics, needle and thread options
* Practice stitches and sew seams
Students will complete a pincushion.
