Weekend Workshops
Water-based Screen Monoprinting
Instructor: Daryl Vocat
Saturday February 20 (10-2)
Sunday February 21 (10-5)
Cost: $165.00
The immediacy of painting combines with water-based screenprinting to create spontaneous and luminous images. Water-based inks, dyes and water-soluble crayons are combined and layered to create one of a kind screen monoprints. Participants will also learn to expose simple photographic images onto the screen to print in combination with monoprinted layers. Some screenprinting experience is preferred but not necessary.
Polyester Plate Lithography
Instructor: Jillian Booth
Saturday February 27 (10-2)
Sunday February 28 (10-4)
Cost: $160.00
Participants will learn how to transfer their favourite photographic images or drawings onto polyester lithographic plates and print them as multiples using the press. These plates can be run directly through a laser printer or photocopy machine, eliminating the need for chemical developers or film-work and allowing for non-toxic applications. Participants will learn about preparing images using the computer and about drawing directly onto the plates using markers or other permanent materials. No previous printmaking experience is necessary.
Collagraph
Instructor: Liliana Rodriguez
Sunday March 7 (10-2)
Sunday March 14 (10-4
)
Cost: $160.00
Originating as collages, Collagraph plates are inked and printed to create colorful and richly textured multiples. Participants will learn about plate making, inking and printing techniques and will be encouraged to experiment and improvise with non-traditional materials and methods. This low-tech, environmentally friendly workshop is suitable for both beginner and advanced printmakers alike.
