EXHIBITION: Field Notes @ Industtrees (January 15-February 12, reception: January 15)

Field Notes :: Jan 15th – Feb 12th @ Industtrees
No matter what advances we make as a species, most of us still revert back to the ol’ pen and ink to document our thoughts, ideas and dreams.
“Field Notes” brings together a slew of new work by Adrian Forrow, Kellen Hatanaka and Jim Mezei that is inspired by thier own individual approaches to the note-taking and creative process. From direct observations to completely abstract thoughts, all of the ideas on display once resided in one of their many pint-sized books, making their own collection of field notes.
These three artists began collaborating in their fourth year of undergraduate studies at OCAD. Their last show, “Transport” was well received and a good indication of how their three unique approaches to art can still come together for a cohesive aesthetic.
Kellen Hatanaka was born and raised in Toronto and recently graduated from the Illustration Program at OCAD. In addition to doing commercial design and illustration work, Kellen focuses his talents on fine art projects and gallery shows. | www.hatanakavisuals.com
Adrian Forrow spends most of his time creating idiosyncratic works of art, the rest of the time is spent on a bike or at least thinking about them. Adrian attended Sheridan for Art Fundamentals, and is a recent graduate from OCAD University with a BDES majoring in illustration. He often contributes work for gallery showings and continues to branch out with installations for various storefronts. | www.adrianforrow.com
Jim Mezei is a Toronto based illustrator, with a Bachelor of Design from OCAD. While working in many facets of design he also loves to explore gallery shows. He enjoys creating and is adding to the ways in which he is capable of doing so. | www.jimmezei.com
Please join us on January 15th at 8PM for food and drink at the show’s opening reception. If you can’t make it on opening night, make sure to stop by before the show ends on February 12th, 2010!
