by rosalyn
Sunday, January 24 & 31 from 10 am to 4 pm
Cost: $65 + supply fee of $40
Location: Cedar Ridge Creative Centre, 225 Confederation Drive, Scarborough
Instructor: Liz Menard
Drypoint – This two-day 12 hour workshop is designed as an introduction to drypoint. In drypoint, a plate is scratched, gouged and scraped in order to hold ink and then printed on to dampened paper. Dry point lines are known for their soft, velvety appearance. The process is popular due to its simplicity. Participants will learn about drypoint through observation and hands on experimentation. There will be the opportunity to look at the work of other artists famous for drypoint including Rembrandt and Picasso.
In this workshop, participants will create a black and white drypoint using oil based ink. On the second day, students may work more on their first plate, or if interested, they are invited to explore the coloured drypoint – a technique with many possibilities. Each participant work will be printed using an etching press.
* There will be a $40 supply fee to be paid directly to the instructor, in addition to the course fee.
