Winter Art Classes at C1 art space
::ADULT WINTER 2010 ART CLASSES::

Small class sizes with a maximum 6 students per class
$150 (plus tax, basic materials included)

CERAMICS: WHEEL THROWING

Level 1
Learn the basics in wheel throwing techniques to produce cylinders with various functions. A range of decorating methods will be covered. Suitable for all levels of experience these focused workshops are limited to five students at a time.
Mondays, January 18, 25, February 1, 8 from 6:30 to 9pm

Level 2
Expand on your basic knowledge of throwing on the pottery wheel. Further projects demonstrate the techniques involved in adding on pieces, such as handles and spouts.
Mondays, February 15, 22, March 1, 8 from 6:30 to 9pm

CERAMICS: SILK SCREENING IMAGE TRANSFER ON CLAY

Learn how to hand build simple forms in clay and silk screening techniques to transfer images onto clay pieces in one class! Whether simple designs, text or your own drawings see the possibilities of silk screening underglaze decoration. No experience necessary.
Saturdays, February 6, 13, 20 from 2 to 5pm

COLLAGE AND ACRYLIC PAINTING TECHNIQUES

This workshop looks at various mediums used in the creation of collage works and image transfers techniques. Projects incorporate the use of simple cut and paste method, photocopy transfer printing, and exploration of various painting applications including blending, glazing, scraffitto, scumbling, and much more in combination with found material.
Thursdays, January 21, 28, February 4, 11 from 7 to 9:30pm

MIXED MEDIA ASSEMBLAGE

This workshop will introduce students to explore practices and concepts of a more contemporary approach to art-making. Students will draw upon a wide range of materials and found objects while incorporating various techniques in the fabrication of two and three dimensional works. Examples of projects include the construction of shadow boxes and sculptural assemblages.

ENCAUSTIC PAINTING

Level 1
Encaustic is a drawing and painting medium using molten wax as paint, mixing medium and preparatory surface. This workshop offers an overview of the medium covering basic techniques, safety issues, and encaustic’s versatility in relation to collage, image transfer, mould uses, scraffitto and general techniques.
Tuesdays, January 19, 26 February 2, 9 from 7 to 9:30pm

Level 2
Further develop technical skills by producing complete works. Approaches to colour palette organization, still life and portrait painting is covered.
Tuesdays, February 16, 23, March 2, 9 from 7 to 9:30pm

SILK SCREEN PRINTING

Create your own one of a kind designs on paper and fabric. Projects presented in class include single and multi-colour printing. Learn the fundamentals of drawing fluid and photo-screen printing techniques (photo emulsion method) to develop skills through colour separation, creating editions and monoprints. These workshops provide information on how to set up a silk screening studio at home. For beginner and intermediate levels.

Saturday and Sunday, February 27, 28 from 1 to 6pm

ADULTS :: PARTIES AND WORKSHOPS

Arrange your own workshop class or party with friends.
4 to 6 Adults, $60 to $150 per person (plus tax, materials included)

3 hour workshops for $60 can be arranged in:
silk screening drawing fluid (bring your own t-shirts or cards)
silk screening photo emulsion technique (bring your own t-shirts or cards)
clay handbuilding-bowls, platter, vases,
clay sculptures or masks

10 hour workshops for $150 can be arranged in any of our regularly scheduled classes including:
silk screen drawing fluid & photo emulsion
silk screen printing on clay
clay sculpture
collage and acrylic painting techniques
papier mache
