What: Crafting Workshop series – drop in anytime between 11:30 & 1:30!
Where: Hart House Reading Room
When: 11:30 am – 1:30 pm week of Jan 25 – 29
Why attend: Join us over lunch and learn a new skill or get help trouble shooting
Cost: It’s free!  All materials are provided free of charge.  You can even take your creations home with you.

SCHEDULE:

Monday, Jan. 25: Learn to knit
Hart House is offering a beginner knitting workshop for those who want to learn the basics. This will involve learning how to: cast on, knit, purl and start beginner level combination stitches. By the end of the workshop you will be ready to start your own knitting projects in preparation for this festive winter season.

Tuesday, Jan. 26: English paper piecing *New Date*

Hart house is offering a beginner English Paper Piecing workshop.  This activity is a great way to create beautiful patch work quilts. Here’s what it is: cut out fun paper pieces to baste your fabric around. After basting, you will learn how to whip stitch the pieces together with the paper inside to hold the accurate shape. Once a shape is completely surrounded by other shapes the center paper piece can is removed and are left with your own beautiful creation.

Wednesday, Jan. 27: Paper flower making

Hart House is offering a beginner workshop on paper flower making.  It is a fun and creative activity, and the flowers will a last a long, long time!  This makes paper flower making a great craft to start early in the holiday season.   Learn what can come of mixing fun forms of paper with a dose of imagination.

Thursday, Jan. 28: Learn to crochet *New Date*

In Hart House’s beginner crochet workshop, participants will learn basic crochet stitches.  You will leave with sample squares of the different techniques that you will have mastered.  This workshop will give you the confidence to tackle your own crochet projects!

Friday, Jan. 29: Buttonmaking
Hart House is offering a workshop on button making that includes equipment and component parts you need to make buttons yourself!   The workshop includes designing and Cutting printed paper and using a punch die-cutter to assemble your creations.  By the end of the workshop you will have your own art pieces that you have cut, assembled and pressed out into finished buttons.
