DORIE MILLERSON
This celebrated textile artist, writer and teacher visits Harbourfront Centre in late January to share her expertise in needle lace-making. Millerson works in a variety of constructed textile techniques and her award-winning artwork is exhibited internationally. She holds an MFA in textiles from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design and an honours diploma in fibre from OCAD; she is an assistant professor in the Faculty of Design at OCAD and teaches textiles at the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. Two-day Master Class – Space Craft: Making Three-dimensional Needle Lace
Friday, Jan. 29 & Sunday, Jan. 31
$50 plus $10 material fee
In this two-day workshop, participants will learn the basics of needle lace technique by making a simple 3-D form, practicing different stitches and developing their own design. Maximum number of participants is 14 so register early!

A series of talks discussing the development of work and ideas. Imagery, inspiration, the history of different media and techniques, individual design philosophy, and experimentation in purpose and function are all themes that may arise. One Harbourfront Centre artist-in-residence from each Craft Studio (textiles, glass, ceramics, metal/jewellery) will be featured.
