Printmaking for Educators Summer 2010
Recommended for educators of grades 4 to 12

Two weeks in July on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm (lunch break: 12 to 12:30 pm)
Cost: $385.00 (required materials included)

Week One – July 5: Monoprinting; July 6: Relief printing
Week Two – July 12: Photocopy transfer; July 13: Screenprinting

ABOUT THE COURSE
The focus of this course is to introduce educators to a variety of printmaking techniques that can be incorporated into school art programs at various levels. Throughout the course class participants will learn basic procedural information relating to a variety of relief printing processes, monoprinting, screenprinting, and photocopy transfers, with an emphasis on nontoxic materials. Each process will be broken down to encompass methods that can be accomplished successfully with or without the use of a press. Participants will learn basic techniques through step-by-step demonstrations, hands-on technical exercises and viewing examples of artwork. Information sheets, troubleshooting guides and supplier lists for the processes covered in each module will be distributed.

HOW TO REGISTER
Fees must be paid in full at time of registration. Payment of fees is the only way to reserve a spot. You can provide us with your contact and payment information by phone, by mail or in person. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, Visa or MasterCard. Please note that class size is limited, so register early. Registration is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. In the case of insufficient enrollment, Open Studio reserves the right to cancel the course two days prior to the start date. If you must withdraw, Open Studio must be notified three business days before the course begins in order to receive a refund, less a cancellation fee of $20. If a student withdraws after the first class, a refund of 50% will be issued. After this withdrawal period, we regret that refunds cannot be issued. Open Studio is not able to provide make-up classes or substitutions. Deadline for enrollment in all classes or workshops is 5 business days before the start date. All courses and workshops take place at Open Studio, 401 Richmond Street West, Suite 104, Toronto, Ontario.
