GET SCHOOLED: Natural Dye Class at the Knit Cafe (July 3-4)
by rosalyn
Natural Dying Workshop
Calling all chemists, chefs, colourists, alchemists, magicians! Learn how to coax colour into your yarns and fibres the old fashioned way! Local and exotic foods and plants can be transformed into beautiful dyes with a wide range of colours. In this class you will learn the myriad of possibilities inherent in the art of “natural dying”. Students will get the opportunity to prepare fibres for dying, and then dye them into beautiful colours using natural extracts and food, and non-toxic mordant. Dying your own materials can be a great way to add another dimension to your knitting, felting or spinning practices.
