GET SCHOOLED: Learn to make Kokeshi Dolls, and Kanzashi Flowers at Momiji (July 6 & 14)
by rosalyn
You can learn to make your own unique Kokeshi Doll, or Kanzashi Flower in one of two upcoming workshops hosted by the Momiji Centre in Scarborough, and taught by Maggie K. of Neogami Origami Jewellery.
Kokeshi Doll Workshop:
Tuesday, July 6. 10am – 1pm
Kokeshi Dolls are small wooden dolls often made to resemble Geisha. The dolls we will make in this three hour workshop, will be 2.5″ tall, and will have any look you want from contemporary to classic, with many techniques taught, and examples shown.
Kanzashi Flower Workshop:
Wednesday, July 14. 10am – 1pm
Kanzashi Flowers are fabric flowers made in a technique simular to origami. In this three hour workshop, you will learn to make the basic plum blossom with either freshwater pearl, button, or bead centre. We will also attach either a brooch back or hair pin (your choice) so you can wear your creation proudly.
You can sign up, up to the day before the workshop, so there’s still time!
