Ring Band Workshops!

6 student max per workshop/session, Spring/Summer rate is $60 per person!
This is perfect for newly engaged folks. Take the class together and learn to make your own custom wedding bands! In this class you’ll be introduced to simple jewelry making skills of sawing, filing, sanding, soldering, texturing, annealing, stamping, polishing, safety, and design. By the end of class you will have a beautiful handmade sterling silver band ring!
Learn how to properly size your finger, calculate the length of metal necessary, add texture to metal using different hammers, stamping tools, or add the texture of a leaf, feather or paper. How to anneal Sterling silver, form, solder, and finishing techniques from hyper shiny bling to a brushed, matte finish.
All materials included! NO experience necessary.

nanopod: Hybrid Studio’s day camp for adults & kids offers the opportunity to experience a selection of our workshops as a retreat from the everyday. Classes will run on consecutive days, often with an extra hour allowing for a short lunch break and more time to complete the day?s project(s).

Plastique + Metal 4 day intensive
Starts Saturday July 9 10am-5pm (workshop runs Saturday & Sunday July 9, 10, 16 & 17th)
Working with copper, NuGold, Nickel silver, polymer clay, and felt, fabricate forms to contain and hold polyurethane resins and silicones. Colour mixing, thickening and painting with silicone. Make 1 part & 2 part silicone moulds, carve, & finish your resin and silicone sculptures and jewellery. Create time capsules, memento mori, creatures.
On the 1st Saturday participants will create metal containers, cups, rings, pendants, etc., to contain resin. The next day (Sunday) from 10am-5pm moulds will be made, resins mixed, poured, objects embedded, etc.
All materials included*, NO experience necessary! *students wishing to work with Sterling silver may do so for an extra fee (or bring in your own Sterling!) Students need to supply their own safety equipment, i.e., respirators, & dust masks. 7 students max. 3 student minimum. $340 (deposit of half required to hold space)

Silkscreen Workshop – THIS IS TODAY!!  JUMP ON IT IF YOU WANT TO LEARN THE ART OF SCREEN PRINTING.
June 1, 6:30 – 9:30
Screen printing is one of the most versatile, low-tech and easy printing methods available – once you know how.  Join artist Christine Pensa to learn to silk screen using your own stencils.  You will design a print, mix inks and print on a variety of fabrics. Bring your own plain t-shirt and we’ll also supply cotton to make your own pillow or napkins, bamboo to make a scarf, a tote bag and a chef’s apron.  You’ll take away the skills to keep printing multiples of your own artwork!  $75.

    Amish Bars Quilt
    Starts Tuesday July 19 10am–2pm
    4 sessions, everyday until July 22
    Make a complete quilt over the course of four consecutive days. This bold and graphic quilt top will be sewn on the first day, basted and then machine quilted on the following days. Perfect for a beginner quilter or someone with experience who would like to advance their finishing skills. $240

    Machine Paper Foundation Piecing
    Starts Tuesday July 26 10am–2pm
    for 4 sessions, everyday until July 29
    Achieve perfect patchwork points while constructing the cutest little neighbourhood in this wall quilt class. This scrap-friendly technique is quick, fun and easy. We will cover how to work with foundation piecing patterns and improvised cutting, and then finish our wallquilt with a free-form edge and hanging sleeve. $240

    Natural Dyeing
    Starts Tuesday August 2 10am–2pm
    for 4 sessions, everyday until August 5
    An introduction to the magical world of dyeing with natural dyestuffs (plants, bugs and minerals).  Students will learn everything they need to know to continue an exploration of natural dyes at home, including mordanting, preparing the dyebath, and dyeing with cotton fabric, linen fabric and wool yarn. Basic surface design techniques such as shibori will also be explored. Each student will also complete a dye sample book for future reference. BONUS! Day camp students will have an extra day to work on a dye project of their choice. $240
