FROM THE DESK OF TCA: Help Jenny Hart Recover Work Stolen in Toronto!

Jun 8th, 2011

At a recent show of local and international fibrestars at the Drake, Jenny Hart had two of her much lauded embroidery portraits (pictured above and below) stolen.  She has put out a call for help on her blog, Embroidery as Art, and Alda was kind enough to alert me to it.

So if you’ve seen these guys hanging in someone’s living room or have any information that could lead to their recovery, please let Jenny know: jenny [ at ] jennyhart.net.  As Jenny has stated, the return of these works will be welcomed with no questions asked.  Having work stolen, particularly labour intensive work, is a bloody shame.  Please help right this wrong if you can by spreading the word!

Thanks!
Jen

I will keep my eye out. I know how she feels 2 peices stolen from Fresh Collective in Kensington Market. You just feel sick when it happens. We as creators make so little money as it is for our labours and then someone just geels like they can just take it. Not cool!!

What horrible news! Jenny Hart’s work is super cool, but art theft ain’t– I’ve had work stolen myself, and it feels horrible. Who ever you are: SHAME ON YOU!

i just logged in from my crazy touring schedule to post about this and then found it already here. this news makes me totally irate. c’mon, toronto, jenny’s being diplomatic about it but i think our city is better than this. at the very least, the thief won’t be able to display these anywhere without fear of reprisal. maybe that will be enough to make collecting on her return offer appealing. here’s hoping!
