GET SCHOOLED: Vegetable Dyeing 101 @ The Make Den (October 28, 2011)

by jen

Oct 17th, 2011

I am excited to see so many opportunities to learn the craft of natural dyeing around town these days – it is a process that feels good to do and the unpredictability of the results only adds to the beauty.  The Make Den is offering an affordable class as part of their “Which Class” series (a play on “witch”y crafts) on the 28th – but you’ll need to sign up asap as they need you to drop off your fabric a week in advance for pre-mordanting.

VENDOR CALL: Niagara Holiday Market (November 25, 2011 – January 1, 2012; application deadline: October 28)

Christmas Market in Europe

Growing up as a non-Christmas celebrator, I’ll admit to harbouring a certain amount of cranky attitude about the holiday for much of my youth. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Holiday Multiples Fair at O’Born Contemporary (Deadline: November 1, Event: December 10, 2011)

by becky

Oct 11th, 2011

Holiday Mutliples FairJust saw this call from O’Born Contemporary’s Holiday Multiples Fair via Akimbo and it seemed like a noteworthy thing to post, not just because it is a timely call for a unique holiday sale but also because there seems to be much confusion in the indie craft world surrounding what art multiples are. Art multiples/Artist’s multiples/Multiples are objects or prints, usually released in limited edition and usually signed that are made specifically for commercial purposes. They are designed and [...]
