EXHIBITION: Capacity 2012 (January 26 -29, 2012; reception January 28)

A few of my favourite Toronto designers are in this show spotlighting the work of lady designers in Canada. This is part of Toronto Design Week which is in full swing – with shows including Come Up to My Room, Losing Parkdale at the OCC and DO Design on Dundas West. Visit this handy Toronto Design Offisite (TO DO) website for the lowdown on various Design Week events!
“CAPACITY” is an exhibit of new work by female, Canadian designers, curated by Katherine Morley, Erin McCutcheon and Ange-line Tetrault. The show runs from Jan 26 to 29th, 2012 at 1066 Dundas St. W., (The Bev Hisey Studio, at Shaw), and features a wide range of media (ceramic, textile, furniture, product design, illustration and more) that will examine and express the word “capacity” as it relates to the role of women in the field of design.
Participants this year are Maiwenn Castellan, Suzanne Carlsen, Bettie Cott & Lauren Reed, Heidi Earnshaw, Bev Hisey, Kristen & Fiona Lim Tung, Erin McCutcheon, Heather McGaw, Katherine Morley, Krystal Speck, Katrina Tompkins and Woman King Collective.
CAPACITY’s daily viewing hours are from 9am-6pm, and our public reception is on Saturday Jan 28, 3-8pm. Please drop in whenever you’d like.
More information about our show and our participants can be found on our website, www.capacitytoronto.com and information about the festival can be found at www.todesignoffsite.com.
