EXHIBITION: The Toronto Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef at Roadside Attractions (February 25-March 30, 2012)
by becky
Winter may still be blustery, but life never stops in the deep abyss (read: big green suitcase) of the Toronto Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef. After a two year hibernation, the reef has emerged once again to occupy another Toronto window Gallery, Roadside Attractions on Davenport at Christie, where it will be on display all day and night for the next five weeks. This emergence sees the reef bigger than ever with “more hanging things and more big things”.
Curated by a loose custodial staff of Shannon Gerard, Becky Johnson, Kalpna Patel and Angelune Des Lauriers, the reef is operated with an overarching goal of eventually covering the entire city of Toronto with its woolly growths. Crochet contributions are always welcome.
