Flyer design by Caitlyn Murphy
Even though it is the middle of summer, applications are now open for one of Toronto’s coolest winter craft fairs, City of Craft.
This much-anticipated show draws crowds upwards of 5000 people to its tightly curated Queen West West event annually. The competition to get in is historically tough but is worth the annual gamble to catch a ride on what feels like Toronto’s most dazzling annual indie craft carnival.

The hexagon clusters will creep and grow out of unexpected places along James Street North (the main corridor of art and culture in Hamilton), mimicking hives in the wild. Came across this call recently for the next World of Threads Festival– an annual event based out of Oakville that brings together fibre artists from Canada and all over the world. Check out their website for more information, and while you’re at it, give their excellent interview series a gander, which profiles fibre artists from T.O. and abroad.

FAT has become an institution in the world of Toronto fashion over the past few years. They seem particularly great at mashing up fashion design with other artistic practices in their annual festival’s awsomely diverse programming. Take a look at this call for submissions for their exhibition component this year, which will centre around notions of the body within the landscape…
