Celebrating a crafty victory with Awards For Nothing by the sweetie pie press
I am tardy in sharing this with you, but there is still time to get together your application for the Ontario Arts Council’s revamped Craft Projects grants, due October 17, 2011.

Bioplastic Buttons by Stephanie Phillips
For those of you who don’t know, Subtle Technologies is a really exciting annual festival of art and science that gathers artists, scientists, innovators, technologists, engineers, designers and the general public to discuss and exhibit work that intersects such disciplines. Review by Tara Bursey

What did your bedroom look like when you were 7 years old? What did it look like when you were 12? What sorts of things were on your bookshelves and walls? The altars of our youth reflected our lives and experiences at the time, as well as the era [...]

Toronto queer craft artist Will Munro passed away yesterday of brain cancer at the sadly premature age of 35. He was majorly talented, motivated, and also a really sweet person. While many of us in the craft community only knew of him, or were only acquainted with him, we all feel the impact he has had on this city’s culture.

Portrait of Will Munro by Melinda Josie
Here’s an amazing interview by Leila Pourtavaf where he speaks candidly about his work, his [...]
