Hey guys,
Just popping in to make sure you all know that City of Craft, a show near and dear to my heart, is coming up this weekend. Now in it’s 6th year, the show is gonna be a juicy one with 2 additional venues nearby housing the most vendors ever (70!). I’ve been following the Pinterest board and the City of Craft blog gift guides in earnest and saving my shekels so that I can take home a few handmade goodies.
If you’ve never made it out to the show before, here are some pics [...]

Some of you guys may remember that I was involved in the coordination of the Bloorcourt Craft Fair last year – and hopefully you remember that it was filled with awesome stuff and sunshiney joy. The strategy is three-fold – 1) arrange an online art sale with an impressive list of Toronto artists 2) throw a one-night shindig 3) encourage [...]

Winter may still be blustery, but life never stops in the deep abyss (read: big green suitcase) of the Toronto Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef. After a two year hibernation, the reef has emerged once again to occupy another Toronto window Gallery, Roadside Attractions on Davenport at Christie, where it will be on display all day and night for the next five weeks. This emergence sees the reef bigger than ever with “more hanging things and more big things”.

Upcycling (the repurposing of materials, giving them new life) has been a hot topic in craft over the past few years as consumption and waste has weighed heavy on a lot of makers’ minds. This upcoming show at the TMC pulls out pieces from their permanent collection that reflect this approach of seeing value in “trash “and creating something beautiful with it. I think it will be fascinating to see how this orientation threads through time and across cultures.
Perpetual [...]
