We have all been there, stealing surreptitious glances at a stranger’s knitting across the subway aisle. Or perhaps you have been the one subtly ogled as you crochet hook bobs and weaves its way to your streetcar stop. All coyness goes out the window at the annual TTC Knitalong (KAL), which brings together knitters and hookers (aka crocheters) alike from all over the GTA, Ontario and beyond for a day of yarn related tourism, shopping, and chatting it up with fellow yarnheads. All funds raised [...]

I know most of their relatives have been accounted for, but there are still some missing and many are now without homes and essentials. They have been feeling pretty helpless, so this sale is their way of contributing. There will be some sweet vintage clothes, handmade jewelry and accessories, and even a nail art booth!

The massive earthquake and tsunami that [...]

I remember the days, not too long ago, when I used to sit down on a semi-regular basis and scratch out letters to friends met through travels, or old pals who had moved away for school, love, or just to try something new. Nowadays, despite having so many channels to (supposedly) make communication easier, I find it harder to make time for moments of really personal life-sharing with buds overseas. I also find myself missing those handheld, smudgy, and tactile bits of my friends’ lives more and more.
