Two bits of news to share with you via the Contemporary Textile Studio Co-op (CTS):

Back in April, textile artist Eliza Plumley partnered with the CTS and the Hospitality Workers Training Centre to run workshops with hotel room attendant members of Local 75 UNITE Here, and members of the housing co-op at 60 Richmond. Bioplastic Buttons by Stephanie Phillips

I first encountered Laura St. Pierre‘s work on the wall of her apartment in Montreal (where we both lived in the early 2000s). The sculpture, painted an electric shade of chartreuse, oozed off the wall in the most pleasing way. I fell in love, and over the years I’ve watched Laura’s multidisciplinary practice evolve in more and more intriguing directions. Eager to better understand her work (and share it with you guys!), I asked Laura a series of questions from her current home base in Grand Prairie, Alberta, where she teaches visual arts.

Attention gifted artisans! Freedom Clothing Collective would like to open their doors to home decor. The non-profit cooperative is looking for all sorts of useful items you would use to embellish your home, such as ceramics, candles, shower curtains, rugs, tea towels, bowls, quilts, etc. Keep in mind, these items not only need to be aesthetically pleasing but we urge that they be eco friendly in nature and either made or reworked locally.

DIY Natural Cleaning Workshop and Craft Fair in support of That’s Women’s Work
