Years ago when I lived in Montreal, one of the best things about strolling around my neighbourhood was checking out the gig posters that changed regularly on telephone poles, mailboxes & in cafe windows. A handful of extremely talented and visionary screenprinting artists used the streets as their gallery, and truth be told, sometimes their vision trumped basic communication about who was playing and when and where – though nobody seemed to mind. The Junction is absolutely jammed with exciting design & craft shops and creative celebrations of late, so it was more of an ‘awesome, of course’ than an ‘no, really??’ when Amanda alerted me to to the fact that a ARTiculations, a cute new art supply store/workshop space/exhibition venue has opened there.

Hot tip: Julie Moon will be selling her wares at this year’s City [...]

I just read a short review on Akimblog of this knitty little exhibition of work by none other than local craft hero Kristin Ledgett of The Knit Cafe! I’m kicking myself about not finding out about this sooner. The show comes down in just a few days, so race over to Harbord Street and check it out before it disappears.

I admit to being a little out-to-lunch when it comes to keeping informed about The Power Plant‘s programming. I can’t for the life of me remember where I found out about it, but I came across this neat little bookmaking workshop for kids that will be happening there this weekend. Cheers to The Power Plant for spreading the artists’ book gospel to people of all ages!
