This past weekend, when attending Quilt Sunday at the workroom, I was lucky enough to spy on the tail end of the Ukrainian Easter Egg (Psanky (or Pysanky or Pysanka)) workshop.  Having always had a hankering to learn more about Psanky, I caught up with the instructor Andrei after the class and asked him for the lowdown on the craft and how he got in to it.

This workshop is open to everyone who wants to learn how to make pysanky- traditional Ukrainian easter eggs. Instruction will begin around 2pm with explanation of techniques and a step by step run through of how to make a pysanka. Then everyone will have the opportunity to slowly work on their own pysanka with assistance. the workroom‘s spring class calendar is filled with fun projects to inspire you.

Just in time for Easter, the workroom will be offering a Pysanky or Ukrainian Easter egg decorating workshop. Learn all about this traditional craft, while being guided through the process of designing your own pysanka egg. Students will also receive a tool kit to take home to make more pysanky on their own. This special class will be offered just twice before Easter weekend, space is limited.

Wicked all day Craft Show with live performances and music @ The El Mocambo

We’re looking for any vendors ( or performers ) that consider their work “unusual”. The festival has a Day of the dead theme & will feature burlesque, and sideshow acts as well as live music from rock, rockabilly & industrial bands.
