Not only is <em>Niagara File</em> an exhibition, but the reception will double as a catalogue launch for the exhibition, which will feature the work of additional talented folks on top of the three exhibiting artists.  I can&#8217;t wait to treat myself to a copy!</p>

		<description><![CDATA[<br/><p><em>I first encountered <a href="http://laurastpierre.com/Artist.asp?ArtistID=24660&#38;Akey=8V568YFL">Laura St. Pierre</a>&#8216;s work on the wall of her apartment in Montreal (where we both lived in the early 2000s).  The sculpture, painted an electric shade of chartreuse, oozed off the wall in the most pleasing way.  I fell in love, and over the years I&#8217;ve watched Laura&#8217;s multidisciplinary practice evolve in more and more intriguing directions.   Eager to better understand her work (and share it with you guys!), I asked Laura a series of questions from her current home base in Grand Prairie, Alberta, where she teaches visual arts.</em></p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Shopgirls Gallery Boutique – Seeking proposals for summer/fall 2010  exhibitions<br />
</strong></p>
<p>We are interested in showing work from emerging artists in all mediums, but especially drawing, painting, photography, mixed media. Group or solo exhibition proposals are welcome. Shopgirls charges no rental fee, but will retain a portion of sales, so there is no initial risk to the artist.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.magdatrzaski.com" target="_blank">Traski</a>&#8216;s work is influenced by the rich Memento Mori and Vanitas themes in 17th century Dutch paintings and also Victorian obsession with the death culture. Compartmentalization is a reoccurring element in her work, such as taxonomy, order, boxes, collections, cabinets of curiosities, and photographs held captive within their frames.</p>
