Hi guys, long time no post!  Hope everyone is feeling their craft jones return after a long hot summer and are getting stoked for cozy nights in with tea, afghans, animals-of-choice, and a knitting project or the like.  I know I am.

I’m poking in today to let you know about a fundraising campaign that is close to TCA’s heart, to help fuel Kid Icarus‘ dream of building a community printing space in their new expanded studio/shop in Kensington market (now located at 205 Augusta Ave).  In case you weren’t [...]

In a Canadian Art History class last year, I was lucky to learn about the Inuit printmakers of Cape Dorset, on Dorset Island in Nunavut. Cape Dorset is known as the “Capital of Inuit Art,” and is well known for its rich history of stone lithography, drawing, carving and handicraft. Similarly, Pangnirtung– on Baffin Island– is known for its weaving studio, which was established in 1970. The exhibition below will [...]

CRAFTY HAPPENING: Zine Dream 4 at the Tranzac (Sunday, August 21, 2011; 12-5pm)

Zine Dream 4

This will be the first year since it’s inception that I won’t be tabling at Zine Dream– an awesome annual zine fair in the arty and truly underground spirit of Cut ‘N’ Paste– the much-missed and utterly classic zine fair that used to happen at Sneaky Dee’s once upon a time ago. A fun mish mash of art, printed matter, music and performance, Zine Dream never fails to be a great late-summer gathering for print geeks like me. [...]

EXHIBITION: The Parallel Library at 1080 Queen Street West (June 23-July 3; Reception: June 23rd, 6-9pm)

by tara

Jun 15th, 2011

How You Look and DressI have long been a fan of the Monkey’s Paw and its collection of eclectic, obscure and sometimes downright bizarre printed matter. After all, in what other book store would you find a biography of “Honest” Ed Mirvish next to a lushly-illustrated book on Hawaiian coconut shell crafts from the 1950s? I recently spotted the following listing for a staff-curated exhibition of some of MP’s more notable titles, due to happen later on this month. [...]
