<p><em>In a Canadian Art History class last year, I was lucky to learn about the Inuit printmakers of Cape Dorset, on Dorset Island in Nunavut.  Cape Dorset is known as the &#8220;Capital of Inuit Art,&#8221; and is well known for its rich history of stone lithography, drawing, carving and handicraft. <p><em>This past weekend, when attending Quilt Sunday at the workroom, I was lucky enough to spy on the tail end of the Ukrainian Easter Egg (Psanky (or Pysanky or Pysanka)) workshop.  Having always had a hankering to learn more about Psanky, I caught up with the instructor Andrei after the class and asked him for the lowdown on the craft and how he got in to it. </em></p>

She makes some of the most compelling illustrations—a lovely combination of childlike aesthetic and stark linework. <p>Most definitely one of my favourite shows of the summer, the <strong><a href="http://www.torontooutdoorart.org/index.aspx">Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition</a></strong> is Canada&#8217;s largest outdoor art exhibition.  It is a sweet sweet medley of art, craft, and design on parade at the most public of spaces, Nathan Philips Square.  The show is in it&#8217;s 48th year (!) , and is a staple of summertime fun &#38; celebration of art in the city.  Despite many challenges posed by the municipal workers strike, the TOAE crew is forging ahead and making it work.  So it is with extra regret that [...]]]></description>
